Why It Works

How Neurotoxins Work

Fine lines and wrinkles are inevitable with aging, but achieving a smooth, youthful complexion is within reach. All neurotoxins work by temporarily relaxing the muscles responsible for deep-set wrinkles, effectively slowing down the aging process and helping prevent new lines from forming.

Key Benefits:

  1. Smooths existing fine lines and wrinkles
  2. Prevents formation of new dynamic lines
  3. Quick, non-invasive treatment with predictable results

Step-by-Step Process

1

Prep

  1. Cleanse target areas; optional topical numbing cream

2

Treatment

  1. Micro-injections of your chosen neurotoxin (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport) into targeted muscle groups

3

Aftercare

  1. For 4 hours, avoid touching or massaging the area, skip exercise and alcohol. For 24 hours avoid heat (like saunas or hot showers). Minor redness, swelling, or headache is normal and should resolve quickly. Contact us if you experience unusual pain, vision changes, or muscle weakness.

What You’ll Feel:A quick pinch at each injection site, generally well-tolerated.

Botox®

Botox is a widely recognized injectable wrinkle relaxer, formally known as botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A). As the first FDA-approved treatment for moderately severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead wrinkles, it has over 16 years of published research and is approved in 95 countries.

Dysport®

Produced by Galderma and FDA-approved in 2009, Dysport offers faster onset thanks to its lighter formulation, making it ideal for larger areas like the forehead.

Xeomin®

Known as a “purer” form of botulinum toxin, Xeomin is free of accessory proteins—an excellent option for those with sensitivities to other neurotoxins.

Botox, manufactured by Allergan, is the most well-known neurotoxin treatment and the first to receive FDA approval. As a trusted option in aesthetics for over 20 years, it remains the most popular choice for reducing wrinkles and fine lines.

Dysport, produced by Galderma, gained FDA approval in 2009. It’s known for delivering faster results, although its effects don’t last longer than other neurotoxins. Like Botox, Dysport uses type A botulinum toxin, but with a slightly different formulation that includes additional proteins. Its lighter consistency allows it to diffuse more easily, making it a preferred choice for treating larger areas, such as the forehead.

Xeomin, produced by Merz, is known for being a "purer" neurotoxin, making it a great alternative for individuals who may have sensitivities to Botox or Dysport. Despite its formulation differences, like all neurotoxins, Xeomin works by blocking nerve signals to muscles, reducing muscle activity and enhancing the appearance of the skin.
